We are seeking a Tooling Engineer for our North Baltimore, OH Plant.

Responsible for all tooling in the facility and instrumental in ensuring that the tools entering our facility meet the requirements of our customers and that any tooling design changes meet our specification. All proposed plans for changes to processes, equipment molds and tooling will be reviewed with the Engineering Manager to ensure reliability and compatibility with existing systems, safety and CSP standards (safety, molds, production, maintenance personnel and accounting). The Tooling Engineer will work with the Engineering Managers to obtain capital needs, develop launch strategy and project timing.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintains tooling list and repairs for tooling.
  • Support plant safety rules, UAW contract and CSP procedures and standards.
  • Oversee transfer of tooling form other facilities with timelines.
  • Support and maintain quality, environmental and 5-S programs.
  • Works with Engineers to develop project launch strategy, capital needs, program timing in support of all APQP, PPAP, MSA and IATF16949/ISO14001 requirements.
  • Manage safety as an equal to other key functions.
  • Reports out on all equipment need for improvement.
  • Works with Corporate tooling and assist quality with Gauge design.
  • Capable of using CAD.
  • Perform dimensional analysis and organize progression of cast and trim tools through use of layout department and tool source to meet customer PPAP requirements.
  • Co-ordinate die sample runs.
  • Track and maintain shots on cast and trim tools for replacement tooling needs.
  • Resolve manufacturing and quality issues related to tooling.
  • Travel to Corporate, mold shops as needed.
  • Track and maintain preventative maintenance for molds and equipment.
  • Acquisition of competitive quotes from tool sources and engineering changes and replacement tools.
  • Assist in ordering of material and equipment.
  • Ensure tool delivery schedules and cost estimates are met while achieving the customer’s quality requirements.
  • Assist in special projects.


  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in tooling within the engineering, automotive, or manufacturing areas is required.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Access, Project, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Job requires substantial time working in a manufacturing/plant environment.
  • May occasionally lift or carry light items (up to 25 pounds).
  • Job requires sitting, standing, and walking, mostly at the incumbent’s discretion.
  • Normal visual acuity required for computer work.
  • Position requires frequent exposure to noise, temperature extremes, moving parts, fumes, etc. in a plant environment.
