Job Summary:   This position will be responsible for leading the production team members for the shift assigned.   Assures Environmental, Health and Safety compliance, quality compliance and manufacturing efficiencies are achieved by having team members trained and following standard operating procedures and site policies and guidelines.  Lead person on site and focal point for communications needs of the production team for the shift assigned.  Lead person for off-shift emergency response activities until Production Manager, ESH Manager or General Plant Manager arrives.


·       Provide visible safety leadership to production teams to assure ESH compliance and support the drive towards an injury free workplace

·       Provide supervisory leadership to teams assigned

·       Lead person for communications to employees on team directly assigned and to management

·       Ensure training of employees on shift and documentation of training matrixes for each employee

·       Responsible for personnel planning (short & medium term management of vacations, training, development)

·       Ensures standard operating procedures (SOPs) are followed to achieve safety, quality and manufacturing efficiency goals

·       With team members, identify and communicate improvement needs for SOPs to the owner of the SOP to help drive continuous improvement

·       Provide visible 6S leadership to team

·       Assure accurate reporting of material usages, inventory moves and production units in the MIS

·       Authority to adjust resources available to for unplanned situations in safety or environmental incidents or upsets in production, maintenance

·       Call in resources to fill vacancy on shift due to illnesses

·       Provide appropriate recognition to teams and individuals to celebrate successes

·       Use appropriate level of progressive discipline when individuals are not following policies and SOPs

·       Responsible for the flow of information within shift, to the parallel and successor shift, and to other departments or groups

·       Responsible to manage fire alarm control panel and fire services

·       Other duties as required

Qualifications & Skills:

·       2+ years Manufacturing Leadership experience

·       Preferred 2-year degree

·       Preferred Trainer of Manufacturing Operators experience

·       Preferred manufacturing experience in Fiber/Chemical process systems

·       Proven ability to engage, develop, and motivate employees

·       Strong work ethic, dependable, resilient, and adaptable & strong organizational and social skillset

·       Proficiency in utilization MS Office software including MS Word, Excel, and Access

·       Experience working with an international, culturally diverse team is preferred

·       Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and organizational abilities

·       Ability to travel international for some initial training

·       Ability to maintain confidentiality and meet deadlines

·       Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check
