We are seeking a Plant Controller for our North Baltimore, Ohio Plant.

Position Summary:
This is an experienced level professional position which oversees the accounting and/or finance function (P&L responsibility) for a manufacturing location. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and complex tasks. Manages a plant accounting department.  Typically reports to a Plant Manager or Regional Operations Director with dotted line functional responsibility to Corporate Controller.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for managing and directing the accounting and/or finance function in assigned location(s).  May manage department personnel including hiring, target setting, performance review and development. 
  • Approves expenses, expense reports and appropriation requests; develops and monitors budget in area of responsibility.
  • Creates or approves monthly, quarterly, and annual P&L reports and ensures financial information has been recorded accurately.  
  • Prepares and reviews weekly and monthly financial results and establishes short-term and long-term forecasts.
  • With the location or Operations Manager, develops the annual business plan, including departmental budgets, goals and objectives.
  • May create and maintain standard cost information for each product manufactured / sold, including work centers and machine rates.  Audits bills of material, routings and standard costing while establishing machine overhead and labor rates.
  • Manage fixed assets and monitor all capital and major expense projects.  May assist with inventory management through physical inventories and cycle counting.
  • Participates in the development of accounting/finance policies and procedures.  Ensures policy compliance.
  • Responsible for local tax filings (property tax, sales tax, etc.)

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business required.  
  • A minimum of five years of plant accounting and/or finance experience is required, preferably in the automotive industry, showing increased understanding and responsibility.  Knowledge of and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and procedures required.
  • CPA or CMA is strongly preferred.
  • Management or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated competence in Windows applications including: Microsoft Project, Microsoft Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel. 
  • Occasional travel may be required.  
  • Position requires occasional exposure to noise, temperature extremes, moving parts, fumes, etc. in a plant environment.
