We are seeking a Paint Process Reliability Engineering Lead for our Carey, Ohio Plant.

Position Summary:
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and maintenance of paint process standards, conformance to these standards and adherence to all engineering standards or operating procedures as they relate to paint shop process.

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Reports directly to the Paint Shop Manager and is directly involved in operations primarily focused on conformance to paint standard operating procedures.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of new paints and process’s.
  • Establish process controls, process flow charts and control plans that drive KPI’s and KPV’s for paint process control.
  • Develop process standards, effective layout and optimize processes as they pertain to paint conformance and quality standards.
  • Perform layered process audits to validate process standards.
  • Perform paint shop audits as they pertain to process standards.
  • Manage technicians and engineers as required.
  • Direct outside plant resources that support paint shop as required.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines as related to process changes and or material changes.
  • Document open issues and track project deliverables.
  • Facilitate meetings and report progress or escalate issues to stakeholders at the same time ensuring that paint standards are adhered to per company and plant standard.
  • Completion of process flow/FMEA, control plan, IMDS, work instruction, BOM, capability study, and process documentation as required.
  • Ensure that all documentation is controlled and managed as it pertains to auditing, paint process, paint standards and customer requirements as required.


  • Bachelor of Science, Engineering or equivalent.
  • Five plus years with an automotive manufacturing supplier in paint systems is preferred.
  • Experience in people management and ability to drive supplier involvement.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint with ability to present to upper management as required.
  • Experience with automotive new model launch procedures, new color launches, paint standards and all required testing methodologies.
